Bringing “Run × Trip” to Life: A Clubhouse Where Runners Naturally Gather

Yoyogi Park is known as one of Tokyo’s most runner-friendly green spaces, loved by many runners for its lush surroundings and easy-to-run routes. Opened in 2025 right in front of the park, “Runtrip BASE YOYOGI PARK” is operated by “Runtrip,” a service that makes running freer and more enjoyable through tools such as its smartphone app.

Yoyogi National Gymnasium stands right in front of the facility. Oda Field, an athletics track, is also located nearby.

The facility is on the third floor of “Yoyogi Park BE STAGE,” an urban exchange park with a diverse mix of food, sports, and culture-oriented shops.

A bright reception area filled with natural light.

English guidance is also available. Helped by its convenient location between Harajuku and Shibuya, the facility has recently seen a rapid increase in international travelers, especially from other parts of Asia.

Towels are available for rental, and depending on the timing, visitors may also find limited-time rentals of the latest shoes and sunglasses.

At the heart of “Runtrip” lies the same philosophy as a “surf trip”—traveling in search of a “great course” rather than great waves. However, no matter how appealing a course may be, it’s not easy to keep running all by yourself. There will be days when you find yourself looking for an excuse to take a break, thinking, “I’m tired today—maybe I’ll just rest.”
That is why “Runtrip BASE YOYOGI PARK” is designed around two key ideas: encounters with fellow runners who can share the joy of running, and rewards such as beer and food to enjoy after the run.

The café serves craft beer and meals, functioning as a hub where runners gather before and after their runs.

The seating area includes 25 table seats and a standing bar counter.

In other words, this is not just a running station where you change clothes and take a shower. It is a third place where runners can gather and talk before and after running. It is truly a “clubhouse” for runners.

Running events are also held regularly as a way to encourage communication. Routes are set around Yoyogi Park according to different levels, and in addition to simple run sessions, events such as “Run & Beer,” where participants toast with craft beer after finishing, are also held. Some events allow same-day participation, so be sure to ask at reception when you visit.

There are also events where many participants come alone. Many events are held where people can enjoy conversation while running, and these often lead to making new friends.

Comfortable Even Empty-Handed: A Full Range of Amenities

Running through Yoyogi Park, cutting through the breeze while taking in the vast greenery and the pleasant scent of earth, is a special experience. Because the park connects seamlessly with cultural hubs such as Shibuya and Harajuku, after working up a full sweat, you will naturally want to head straight back into the city feeling refreshed and put together.

“Runtrip BASE YOYOGI PARK” is equipped with facilities that support the daily routines of exactly these kinds of runners. First, the clean locker rooms are equipped with more than 50 lockers each for men and women, as well as four shower booths on each side. By simply registering for the Runtrip app for free, even visitors can use the facility at the member price of ¥880 per visit. General use is ¥1,100, with a separate initial registration fee. This reasonable pricing, especially in the very center of Tokyo, is another welcome point.

A spacious changing room with a simple layout and neatly lined lockers.

There are four washbasin seats. They are placed before the shower area, creating an efficient flow.

The shower booths are fully equipped with shampoo, treatment, cleansing products, and more.

Since opening, the facility has been committed to creating a space that women can use comfortably. In particular, the range of amenities in the powder room is impressive. From skincare items such as cleansing products, toner, emulsion, and makeup base to styling products such as hair oil and wax, the lineup is extensive. It even includes hair dryers and hair irons from the popular brand “KINUJO.”

We’ve stocked “Aurelie.” skincare products. Their quality is so highly regarded that female runners who’ve used them have even contacted us saying, “I want to buy some to take home.”

“KINUJO” dryers are installed on both the men’s and women’s sides. They are characterized by industry-leading airflow for quick drying and a lightweight design that helps keep your arms from getting tired.

A Post-Run Drink and High-Protein Food

In the café space, craft beer from Yokohama’s “YMB (Yellow Monkey Brewing)” is available on tap and in cans as part of the post-run menu. The counter in the center of the café has become a community space where runners naturally stand shoulder to shoulder after finishing their runs and raise a glass.

Even among people meeting for the first time, conversations naturally begin between those who share the same interest: “How many kilometers did you run today?” or “Which route do you recommend?” Even if you drop by alone, once you settle in at the counter with a beer or coffee in hand, you may find yourself comfortably becoming part of the circle before you know it. This warm atmosphere, where you can feel the presence and energy of fellow runners, is the café’s greatest appeal.

YMB is a beer created for people who love running. “KAIZOKU,” a standard pilsner that uses rice koji and blends New Zealand and Japanese styles, is ¥1,540 for size L.

There are four taps, and the beers are replaced as each keg runs out. There is also a full lineup of snack items that help both the beer and the conversation flow.

The food menu is built around the theme of protein and energy replenishment to support the body after running. The lineup is designed from a runner’s perspective, including hearty curry made with chicken breast, high-protein curry bread, and protein shakes.

The “Coconut Milk Curry,” ¥1,200, is made without butter for a healthier finish. It is served with pulled chicken made from domestic chicken breast, making it an easy choice for a post-run meal with protein in mind.

wide variety of breads is available to meet the needs of morning runners. By offering variations in ingredients such as domestic wheat and rice flour, the menu also accommodates the kind of detailed dietary adjustments runners may make, such as choosing rice flour instead of wheat before a race.

The “Kinako Protein Shake,” ¥770, provides 15 g of protein. Other flavors include chocolate, matcha, and hojicha, available for a limited time. Because it is made as a crushed-ice shake, it is ideal for cooling down a warm body after exercise.

Digital and Real-World Features Linked Together: The More You Run, the More Fun It Gets

What makes running in Yoyogi Park even more enjoyable and rewarding is the connection with the “Runtrip” smartphone app. Linked to Runtrip’s original system, which lets users earn 10 miles for every kilometer they run, the facility offers monthly free coupons that can be exchanged for coffee or craft beer when you run a monthly total of 30 km or more. It is a system in which your everyday runs lead directly to welcome rewards.

The “Runtrip” app screen. It records your running route and pace, and miles are accumulated according to the distance you run.

Participation is simple. When you arrive, all you need to do is check in once using the QR code inside the facility. After that, wherever you run will automatically be counted. In addition, depending on the distance you run, the system is also designed to contribute to donations for Yoyogi Park conservation activities and sports promotion in Shibuya Ward.

The app benefits do not stop there. There is also a “Weekly Chance,” where running 10 km in a week gives you the chance to win café tickets and other rewards. On your first check-in, a 20% off coupon for use at Runtrip Store, which is open on weekends only, is also issued immediately and can also be used online. The coupon can be used right away at the shop attached to the facility.

The shop also carries a wide range of smaller items, including gels, hats, and pouches.

The shop carefully selects items from products that Runtrip carries on its online store.

Items that people often want to see in person before choosing, such as apparel and shoes, as well as seasonal products such as trail-running packs, are regularly rotated.

Another hidden highlight of the retail corner is its original merchandise. The beaded bracelet shown here is a “Kenya Bracelet,” which became popular among runners after marathon runners wore them at international competitions. Handmade in Kenya, a country also known for its marathon culture, this is an original version featuring the Runtrip logo. ¥4,900.

A community where people with a shared interest naturally gather, a café where runners can recover after a run, and a shop where they can try the latest gear. With all of these functions working seamlessly through the app, “Runtrip BASE YOYOGI PARK” is an evolved running station that is sure to elevate your running experience in Tokyo.
