Located on a quiet street in Daikanyama, surrounded by fashion brands

Founded in England in 1894, Barbour is a brand known for functional outerwear such as waxed jackets that offer excellent water and wind resistance. Its high quality has made it a favorite of the British royal family. Today, the brand has grown into a global presence, with directly operated stores in over 55 countries.Among them, Barbour DAIKANYAMA stands out as a special location where the brand’s worldview is strongly felt.

It’s located on a calm street lined with brands like A.P.C., Maison Kitsuné, and MHL, and the interior reflects the charm of British country style. Inside the shop, check-patterned decor and vintage advertisements evoke Barbour’s long history and DNA. The store offers a wide range of items including men’s and women’s waxed jackets, Japan-exclusive pieces, and even pet goods. It’s a shop that can be enjoyed by couples and families alike.

The storefront is painted in Barbour’s signature green, making it stand out on the street.

The interior features wooden elements. The ceiling is low, but the wide aisles make it easy to navigate.

The wall beside the entrance is covered with vintage advertisements. Barbour was born in a coastal town, and its waxed jackets were originally worn by fishermen and dock workers to protect themselves from the elements.

Japan-exclusive series, with sleeve lengths and silhouettes tailored to Asian body types and fashion preferences, are also popular.

The women’s section has a soft, charming atmosphere with pink check patterns on the walls.

The classic waxed jacket model “Bedale” is priced at ¥67,100.

Each classic model on display comes with a tag explaining its history and features in English and Chinese.

The only store in Tokyo with a rewaxing station

Barbour’s waxed jackets can be worn for many years while maintaining their water and wind resistance by undergoing periodic rewaxing. Barbour DAIKANYAMA features a dedicated rewaxing station, offering this service exclusively in Tokyo.

Jackets are warmed on a heat table, and staff carefully reapply wax by hand. This process prioritizes careful craftsmanship over speed, offering a unique chance to witness Barbour’s expertise up close. If your timing is right, you may even get to see the work in progress. Rewaxing costs range from ¥4,400 to ¥6,600 and may take around three weeks to complete.

Step down to the right after entering the store, and you’ll find the Rewaxing Station.

While rewaxing can be done at home, many people regularly bring in their jackets, saying the store’s finish is on a whole other level.

The store also sells official wax. Each stylish tin—great as décor—contains enough for two applications on a mid-length jacket. 200mL, ¥3,850.

The jacket is first warmed on an orange heat table to help the wax absorb. Heating also lifts dirt and old wax, which are brushed off.

Wax is carefully applied to the entire jacket using a sponge.

The difference in color before and after rewaxing is striking. The jacket is kept warm to help the wax blend into the fabric.

A freshly rewaxed jacket takes on a deep hue and glossy finish. Moisture from the wax also increases the fabric’s durability.

Rewaxing costs ¥4,400–6,600 depending on coat length. It takes at least about three weeks, so plan ahead when requesting the service.

Create Your Own “MY Barbour” with Embroidery and Pins

At Barbour DAIKANYAMA, you can add up to eight alphabet letters to your jacket’s cuffs or pockets through a custom embroidery service. If your jacket was purchased at the Daikanyama store, embroidery is free and usually done the same day.

The pin badges launched in spring 2025 are also popular, including Japan-exclusive designs like Mt. Fuji and lanterns—great as souvenirs.

By combining embroidery and pin badges, you can create a one-of-a-kind “MY Barbour.”

If you find a jacket you truly love, we highly recommend giving it a try.

A waxed jacket customized with embroidery and pin badges. These personal touches deepen your attachment to the piece.

Adding a pin badge to the corduroy collar is also a recommended style choice.

Choose from six embroidery thread colors—red, green, orange, yellow, blue, and black—and three font styles.

The embroidery is done on-site by setting your chosen letters into the in-store sewing machine.

Choosing a thread color that matches your jacket creates a subtle accent without standing out—highly recommended.

Pin badges are available at the front register. Since the designs vary by season and country, they make great travel mementos.

CATTON Waxed Jacket (Women’s) – ¥69,300 An updated version of the popular short-length “Spey” model, the Catton features an oversized, feminine silhouette with a corduroy collar, chest D-ring, and ring zipper. The sleeve lining has a check pattern that makes a stylish impression when the cuffs are turned up.

EXMOOR Wool Mid-Length Coat "JAPAN LIMITED" (Unisex) – ¥82,500 A Japan-only knee-length version of the classic “BURGHLEY” coat, made from wool tweed. It’s highly wearable and ideal for urban life.

Lambswool / Cashmere New Check Scarf – ¥8,800 A slim scarf using Barbour’s signature tartan. It’s easy to style in various ways, and the wool-cashmere blend offers a soft texture and excellent warmth.
