A running station that serves as a base for the Imperial Palace run

The Imperial Palace is the residence of the Emperor in the center of Tokyo and the site of the former Edo Castle. Running here is known as the "Imperial Palace Run. Running stations are scattered around the Imperial Palace, providing a comfortable environment for running, with lockers, showers, and changing rooms where you can prepare before running and leave your luggage.

Among them, “JOGLIS” stands out for its exceptionally convenient location for runners, with the Imperial Palace running course right in front of it—just across two traffic lights. The space was originally used as a restaurant, but because of its ideal location for the Imperial Palace run, it was transformed into a running station.

An excellent location facing the Imperial Palace. Its greatest appeal is that you can start running almost immediately after crossing the traffic lights.

The facility is one of the largest running stations in the Imperial Palace area. It features a spacious entrance and a café space that can be used freely even by people who are not using the running station. It is valued not only as a place to meet before a run, but also as a community space where people can do light PC work or spend time after finishing their run.

Energy supplements for runners are also sold next to the reception desk, which is useful when you want to train seriously.

On weekdays, the facility is busy with businesspeople working around Hanzomon, but in recent years it has also attracted international travelers. To accommodate them, it offers an “International Traveler Plan” for ¥2,500. For tourists who want to try running around the world-famous Imperial Palace, this facility provides a reliable base with an easy-to-understand location and a smooth system for receiving visitors.

Plenty of lockers and showers, plus facilities that women will appreciate

Essential to any running station are basic facilities such as changing rooms, lockers, and showers. Because these facilities are used by people who run before or after work or in between sightseeing, ease of use depends directly on whether they provide a good environment for changing clothes, storing belongings, and washing off sweat after running.

Since opening in 2009, “JOGLIS” has continued to update its facilities while placing importance on ease of use. There are 90 lockers each for men and women, including both upper and lower rows, for a total of 180—more than enough to meet demand. Another welcome point is that the facility fee has remained reasonably priced at ¥1,000 per visit (for visitor members; ¥2,500 for non-members), making it easy to use on a regular basis.

Monthly shoe lockers are also available for people who run around the Imperial Palace regularly.

From the time it first opened, the facility has focused on creating a space that women can use comfortably, and the women’s changing room is designed to be larger than the men’s. There are seven shower booths for women and six for men. Depending on the timing, promotional campaigns are also held in which users can try amenities such as body wash from well-known brands.

There are four sinks and five hair dryers, so even during busy times, users can get ready without feeling rushed. (Women’s side)

There is also a bike rack at the entrance for bicycle commuters.

The facility also includes a bike rack available for ¥18,000 per month, fully meeting the needs of active users who want to combine commuting by bicycle with running.

You can rent everything you need for a run—and even try the latest shoes

Sometimes you want to go for a run in between business appointments, or as soon as the mood strikes. In those moments, the extensive rental service is especially helpful. Apparel can be rented from ¥300 per item, and there is also a value set plan that includes items such as a T-shirt, shorts, and a bath towel (up to 8 items in a full set for ¥1,400). As long as you are wearing socks and underwear, you can show up completely empty-handed without a problem.

A wide selection of rental gear in many sizes and items. It makes it easy to stop by empty-handed.

The shoes and apparel available for rental are all collaboration items with the outdoor brand “SALOMON.” Remarkably, shoe rental is free on clear days (¥300 on rainy days).

In addition to T-shirts and shorts, jackets, vest-style running packs, and caps are also available.

Around four shoe models are available for rental at any given time, and the lineup changes regularly depending on the season. From everyday jogging shoes to gravel models for unpaved surfaces, and even more race-oriented models during race season for events such as the “Tokyo Marathon,” runners have a rare opportunity to actually try shoes suited to their purpose and the season.

With its extensive facilities, rental access to the latest gear, and above all its prime location right by the Imperial Palace, “JOGLIS” offers everything needed to support a comfortable Imperial Palace run.
