A place to discover where toys stand today as the category continues to expand

MEDICOM TOY TOKYO is located beyond the crowds around Shibuya Station, farther in past MEGA Don Quijote Shibuya Honten Store. The site was formerly home to Project 1/6, the brand's first store, which had operated since 1996. Carrying on that spirit, it reopened in 2025 in a renewed form. The store's concept is "a laboratory dedicated to continually questioning toys."

Today, toys are no longer just things to play with or collect. Their role has expanded into culture that also shapes lifestyles and values. Set in the heart of Tokyo—an unfinished experimental city in its own right—MEDICOM TOY TOKYO aims to be a place that reexamines the significance of toys as that role continues to grow. Even if you simply drop in, you may come across items available only here.

A spacious interior organized by genre, where you can browse at your leisure

Compared with the days of Project 1/6, the sales floor at MEDICOM TOY TOKYO is about 25% larger, creating a more open space. With exposed pipes and cracked walls, the interior is designed to evoke a slightly mysterious laboratory. At the center of the store is a giant "experiment table" nearly eight meters long. More than just a display fixture, it symbolizes a lab where ideas intersect. New releases, seasonal items, and experimental products are arranged here.

Near the register is a large, refrigerator-like showcase displaying higher-priced items and shop-exclusive products. The spacious layout, organized by genre, makes it easy to compare products and enjoy shopping at a relaxed pace.

Exposed pipes run along the walls, creating the atmosphere of an old laboratory. Although the store is bright, part of its appeal is the faint sense of mystery it carries.

Houseplants placed throughout the store, from hanging greenery overhead to plants on the floor, add a clean feel to the space. The contrast with the laboratory-like setting is especially striking.

Find BE@RBRICKs you can only buy here

BE@RBRICK was created in 2001 as a teddy bear for the digital age. This bear-shaped, block-style figure has inspired collaborations across a wide range of fields, including art, fashion, film, and anime, and has fans around the world.

At MEDICOM TOY TOKYO, alongside the latest releases, you may even come across models that are sold out online. The shop also releases around one or two store-exclusive BE@RBRICKs each month, so every visit offers something new to discover. Impressive 1000% versions are also on display. Even if an item is not displayed on the sales floor, you can check the catalog for products available for shipping within Japan. For anyone who loves BE@RBRICK, this is a store worth visiting at least once.

You can also find rare items, including collaboration models with popular characters and BE@RBRICKs featuring special gimmicks and unusual materials.

A rich selection of manga, anime, and sofubi

Another distinctive feature of the store is its extensive lineup of merchandise based on Japanese manga, anime, and tokusatsu (live-action special-effects) characters. Titles such as Crayon Shin-chan, Doraemon, and Kamen Rider are especially popular with overseas fans, and many visitors come specifically looking for those items. The store also carries exclusive sofubi items, whose popularity has surged in recent years, and on release days customers sometimes line up before the store opens.

In addition, the store offers a broad range of products, from the high-quality action figure series MAFEX to collaboration items with fashion brands and artists, as well as small, affordable figures. It is a lineup that can be enjoyed by everyone, from younger fans to longtime collectors.

In this way, MEDICOM TOY TOKYO continues to evolve in unpredictable ways while sending culture from Tokyo out to the world.

The store also offers a wide selection of the high-quality action figure series MAFEX, known for its detailed sculpting, articulation that lets you recreate poses from the original works, and wide range of accessories. It is a series made for collectors who notice the difference.
