A Drink and Good Music — Shibuya’s Hip-Hop Crossroads
Just a one minute walk from JR Shibuya Station, "DJ Bar & Lounge WREP" is the perfect place when you’re in the mood for a drink and some hip-hop. The bar was born from “WREP,” a hip hop focused internet radio station hosted by ZEEBRA and YANATAKE. Serving as a comfortable “third place” between home and work, it offers a welcoming space in the heart of Shibuya.
The internet radio station "WREP" is headed by ZEEBRA(※)and YANATAKE(※), two heavyweights in the Japanese hip-hop world. With a recording studio in Shibuya, this radio started in 2017 and continues to transmit various information on hip-hop non-stop for 24 hours.
As the lounge-like counterpart to “WREP,” DJ Bar & Lounge WREP also opened in Shibuya in 2017. Though called a lounge, it's anything but stuffy—it's a place where you can casually enjoy music and drinks, functioning as a club too. Regular events are scheduled for each day of the week, with DJs playing hip-hop in their own unique styles. Its prime location, just a minute's walk from JR Shibuya Station, makes it easy to drop by. Above all, with ZEEBRA and YANATAKE at the helm of production, it's undoubtedly a place where you can experience authentic hip-hop.
※ZEEBRA: A rapper who has led the Japanese hip-hop scene since its dawn. Often called the “King of Hip-Hop,” he is one of the founders of J-HIPHOP culture.
※YANATAKE: Active across multiple fields including hip-hop media, DJing, and event production. A key figure in Japan's club and radio scene, starting with the internet radio station “WREP.”
The clientele, united by hip-hop as a common language, includes a diverse mix drawn to Shibuya's unique atmosphere: people working nearby heading home after work, those involved in fashion, music, and art, international travelers, and Tokyo's nightlife revelers. As the staff puts it, “You never know what's going to happen here,” making it a space brimming with unpredictable fun and unexpected encounters.
※MR.BEATS a.k.a. DJ CELORY: Japan's premier hip-hop DJ/producer. Member of the hip-hop unit SOUL SCREAM. A legendary figure known for his classic mixes and numerous events.
※DJ SHUNSUKE: A DJ who garners support through his wide-ranging selection and solid skills. Active at parties and on radio both domestically and internationally.
The restaurant's recommended drink is homemade lemon shochu with a hint of sweetness. It is popular to drink it with soda and a lemon sour. WREP THURSDAY," held every Thursday, is supported by Aoyama Blue Mountain, a coffee potato shochu from Miyazaki Prefecture, created by DJ MAGARA(※)of the reggae sound crew MASTERPIECE SOUND(※), who is the resident DJ for the party. The palatable taste with reggae vibes is also popular here.
※MASTERPIECE SOUND: A sound crew representing the dancehall/reggae scene. Active across a wide range of stages from clubs to festivals since the 2000s.
※DJ MAGARA: A leading figure in Tokyo's club scene. A highly sought-after DJ who plays primarily dancehall but also performs across other genres including fashion and art events.
The bar is located on the 9th floor of the building, allowing guests to enjoy drinks while gazing out at Shibuya Crossing—now a Tokyo landmark—from window seats. When your favorite song plays, you can dance on the dance floor, and for those seeking a luxurious experience, VIP seating is also available.
If you pay an entrance fee, you can also enjoy the privilege of touring around the affiliated stores, such as "DJ Bar Bridge Shibuya" on the upper floor of the same building, "DJ Bar Bridge Shinjuku" in Shinjuku Sanchome, and "ENTER" located between Shibuya and Harajuku (the difference between the two stores is paid additionally). All of them have nice DJs, whether on weekdays or weekends, so you can enjoy a high quality party. We hope you will use "DJ Bar & Lounge WREP" as a starting point for experiencing Tokyo's nightlife.
