Brands That Reflect Urban Sensibility and Individuality

URBAN RESEARCH curates real clothes for today’s adults—pieces that combine sophisticated urban style with an emphasis on personal identity. Its thoughtful approach has won over a loyal following of customers who seek authenticity and self-expression. The company originally began in 1974 as a jeans shop in Osaka. In 1997, the first URBAN RESEARCH store opened in Osaka’s Amerikamura district. Today, the brand operates 21 locations across Japan and has launched several sub-labels, including URBAN RESEARCH DOORS, KBF, and KAGURE.

A Flagship Store with a Wide Range of Brands in Central Tokyo

URBAN RESEARCH Lumine Shinjuku is located on the third floor of Lumine Shinjuku 2, right outside the South Exit of JR Shinjuku Station. As one of the largest URBAN RESEARCH stores in the Tokyo area, it boasts a particularly extensive selection of brands. Renovated in 2019, the interior features a balance of wood and stone, offering a minimalist design softened with warmth. The store’s aesthetic philosophy permeates the space, enhancing the shopping experience with a sense of refinement.

The layout is divided—women’s to the left, men’s to the right—making it easy for couples and families to shop together. The store carries both Japanese brands such as Hender Scheme and DAIWA PIER39, and global labels like Lemaire, Maison Margiela, GANNI, and MARNI. Among the many boutiques in Lumine Shinjuku, this one stands out for its individuality.

There is a storefront display featuring seasonal items.

The women’s section is located to the left as you enter.

The men’s section is on the right-hand side.

The men’s section offers a wide range of techwear, including items from DAIWA PIER39.

The lineup spans everything from leather dress shoes to sandals.

The women’s section has also expanded its sneaker selection, featuring brands like SALOMON, NEW BALANCE, and ASICS.

In addition to apparel, the store offers a wide range of cosmetics, including hand creams and aroma oils.

In the center of the store, the sales floor of "Hender Scheme," a leading Japanese leather product brand, expands.

Luxury accessories such as wallets from Maison Margiela are featured in the glass showcase.

Timeless pieces like MARNI’s signature basket bags are also available in abundance.

LEMAIRE is a French fashion brand established in 1990, and the Lumine Shinjuku location offers the largest selection of its items among all URBAN RESEARCH stores.
