Since the launch of “DEEPTOKYOmagazine” as a digital media platform in March 2025, we have continued reporting and editing as a media platform that shares the “now” of TOKYO with audiences in Japan and overseas, based on the concept of “sharing deep Japanese culture the world has yet to discover from TOKYO.”

Our mission is to dive deep into Tokyo culture and deliver highly sensitive, carefully curated content to the world. Through new discoveries, we aim to create a media experience that allows readers to understand and experience the appeal of Tokyo on a deeper level.

This first issue takes that “TOKYO culture,” edits it once again from a DEEP perspective, and gives it a single physical “form.”

We wanted to preserve Tokyo’s ever-updating digital “now” as a single volume that readers can hold in their hands. Through the tactile sensation of turning each page, the texture of the paper, and the expressive quality of the printing, we hope people around the world will experience Tokyo’s depth and sense of speed. This issue was created with that feeling in mind.

The cover features art of “BE@RBRICK,” the block-type figure by “MEDICOM TOY.”

Sold with a special logo sticker.

Specifications with careful attention to paper quality and ink.

Art direction and design were handled by “ThereThere,” known for creating books, magazines, and posters with a strong presence through designs that evoke atmosphere and a sense of quiet poise.

The issue also pays careful attention to forms of expression that are only possible in print media, such as fluorescent ink, paper with a special texture, and pages of different sizes, aiming to create an immersive experience that draws readers deeper into TOKYO with every page they turn.

Opening Feature: “MEDICOM TOY”

The feature includes an exclusive interview with MEDICOM TOY representative Tatsuhiko Akashi, exploring the company’s 30-year history as well as the “fervor” and “succession” of sofubi culture.

Second Feature: “SHIBUYA” Nightlife

The section also offers substantial reading material, including an interview with DJ HASEBE about Shibuya and hip-hop from the 1990s onward.

Packed with More Than 50 Pieces of Content for Discovering Tokyo Culture Today

From urban culture such as nightlife, art, music, fashion, sneakers, and TOY, to traditional culture symbolized by long-established shops and handcraftsmanship, this issue is filled with the appeal of TOKYO, where tradition and innovation coexist and continue to generate a unique energy.
