In September, BEAMS CULTUART TAKANAWA opened inside NEWoMan TAKANAWA, a commercial facility in Takanawa—an area rapidly developing as Tokyo’s global gateway. As the first standalone store under the BEAMS CULTUART project, it represents BEAMS’s initiative to bring its art-, entertainment-, and design-centric culture to a global audience. With a unique selection that goes beyond apparel and a gallery space attached, the store offers a place where visitors can encounter both art and culture. It is a cultural hub that showcases a different facet of BEAMS.

A New BEAMS Concept That Brings Visitors Closer to Art and Culture

BEAMS is widely recognized as the pioneer that introduced the select-shop culture to Japan. Today, it operates stores around the world and will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2026—an originator Japan proudly presents to the world. Its latest venture is BEAMS CULTUART TAKANAWA, a store that brings together a wide range of objects and experiences, including art, music, film, books, and food. Here, visitors can discover and engage with an entirely new dimension of what BEAMS has to offer.

Located on the North 4th floor of NEWoMan TAKANAWA, which opened in 2024, directly in front of Takanawa Gateway Station.

Inside the white-toned interior, art- and culture-focused items are gathered in one place.

Objects and Experiences That Reflect BEAMS CULTUART’s Distinct Perspective

In addition to items carefully selected through the BEAMS CULTUART lens, the store features contributions from numerous creators in the arts and culture. For example, the Art Digging corner—where artworks are displayed like vinyl records for visitors to flip through casually—is curated by Rotten Donuts, a creator-driven platform for diverse artistic practices. The bookstore corner is curated by Hi Bridge Books, a fully appointment-based bookshop in Yoyogi-Hachiman. And at the entrance, MILK TEA SERVICE offers an original iced milk tea blend created exclusively for BEAMS. It is a space that showcases BEAMS' full cultural breadth.

An Entry Space Into an Art Community—Where You Can Both Purchase and Experience Art

BEAMS CULTUART TAKANAWA also features a gallery space that hosts exhibitions by artists from Japan and abroad. Exhibitions and pop-ups are held regularly, and many works are available for purchase (availability varies by exhibition). The store also offers a range of artist-collaboration goods, allowing visitors to experience art in a more accessible way—and perhaps discover a new favorite piece along the journey.

The gallery space hosts a variety of exhibitions—including solo, group, and pop-up shows—throughout the year. Works by artists from Japan and overseas are displayed and available for purchase.

Artwork by artists such as HIMAA (Masanao Hirayama) and Tadanori Yokoo is displayed throughout the store, inviting visitors to explore and find items that match their tastes.

From November 27 (Thu) to December 9 (Tue), the store is hosting ”Get Cute…”, a solo exhibition by artist Kae Tanaka. Take this opportunity to enjoy the art experiences BEAMS CULTUART has curated.
