A Hidden Gem in "Oku-Shibu" Where You Can Enjoy Both Café and Bistro

"mimet" opened in 2015 as a café-bistro in a renovated traditional house. In 2023, it relocated to the site of a former soba restaurant. The interior still uses floors, tables, and chairs brought over from the original house, creating a nostalgic and warm space. Cat illustrations and goods are displayed throughout, inspired by the idea of “a traditional house in a back alley where a cat quietly wanders in.” Particularly notable are the artworks by illustrator Ichio Otsuka, which add playfulness and charm. It is a comfortable place where both children and adults can relax.

Cat motifs are hidden throughout the interior.

Some furniture has been in use since the days of the original traditional house, enhancing the calm atmosphere.

Landscape photos of Miura Misaki taken by owner Taro Yamamoto and artworks by Ichio Otsuka are also on display.

Relax with Kissaten-Style Sweets During the Day

During the day, sweets are the main attraction at "mimet." The owner, who is from Nagoya and familiar with kissaten culture, reinterprets classic café menus here. Signature items include custard pudding, cream soda, and the seasonal "Napoleon Pie" made with fresh fruits. Strawberries, white peaches, grapes, Shine Muscat, and other seasonal fruits are paired with different creams to create these exquisite desserts. They can always be enjoyed alongside coffee or tea.

Pudding à la mode (1,300 yen) served on silverware, evoking the atmosphere of a classic kissaten.

Melon cream soda (800 yen), a reinterpretation of café culture.

Seasonal "White Peach Napoleon Pie" (1,500 yen), finished with refreshing yogurt cream. *Reservation required.

Baked cheesecake (700 yen) from "Horn," a cake shop in "Oku-Shibu," with a moist and rich flavor.

Evenings with Natural Wines and Bistro Dishes

At night, "mimet" transforms into an adult space where guests can enjoy natural wines and bistro dishes. The wines are selected with the concept of being “easy to drink even for beginners,” focusing on light, food-friendly varieties. A signature dish is cheese quiche baked in a Nanbu ironware pan, a specialty carried over from its predecessor bistro "Aruru," which pairs perfectly with wine. Other offerings include hearty meat dishes and pasta to finish the meal, often shared among guests. The contrast between its daytime and nighttime atmosphere is one of "mimet" greatest charms.

At night, natural wines take center stage, with selections chosen to be approachable for beginners.
