The only store where you can explore the full lineup, including tents

finetrack is a dedicated mountaineering brand with an in-depth understanding of Japan’s unique climate. From the popular Dry Layer® series—designed to prevent sweat-induced chills—to hard shells for snowy mountains and high-performance tents, finetrack TOKYO BASE is the only place where you can try on nearly every item in the catalog. Another distinctive benefit of the flagship store is that customers can always receive hands-on guidance on how to set up their tent. Many staff members are active outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy mountaineering and other pursuits. They have extensive product knowledge and can share field-tested insights and tips for exploring Japan’s wilderness from a real user’s perspective.

Our staff members enjoy a wide range of activities year-round, including mountaineering, climbing, backcountry skiing, kayaking, and canyoning, so you can feel confident choosing products with their expertise.

Visitors can open a map with the staff and receive recommendations for nearby trails.

The “Nihon no Iro T-shirt” (5,720 yen), which uses colors rooted in Japan’s four seasons and climate, is available in all colors.

Interior design paying homage to traditional Japanese architecture

The interior reflects a deep respect for Japanese tea rooms and traditional architecture. The first thing to catch your eye is the large natural stones boldly placed along the eaves and on the floor. These stones were manually transported by descendants of the stonemasons from Azuchi-Momoyama Castle. Their cross-sections, reminiscent of mountain ridges, embody the intention for visitors to “feel the mountains beneath their feet.” The central suspended shelf is inspired by the “Bōsen” tea room at Daitoku-ji Temple in Kyoto. Within this space, crafted using traditional Japanese woods such as Tottori cedar and Yakusugi, customers can leisurely select products.

The floor uses “Takine-ishi,” a granite quarried in Fukushima Prefecture.

Hands-on demonstrations to experience material performance

At our flagship stores, you can not only see the products but also experience the performance of the materials through demonstrations using actual fabrics. A must-try is the demonstration of the brand’s signature “Dry Layer®” technology. It visually shows how sweat passes through the skin-side layer (the dry material) and is expelled outward, clearly demonstrating how it prevents sweat-induced chills. This offers a valuable opportunity to gain a deep understanding of its performance as “life-saving gear.” You can also verify the performance of other proprietary materials through comparative demonstrations, such as the unique insulation that resists moisture and the highly stretchable waterproof-breathable fabric.
